We saw hops from a far, apple trees and Welch's Light purple grapes growing up close.

Yakima in the morning....
This is what we woke up to after getting a good nights sleep and re-energizing. Yakima was a cute quaint town with a twist of rainbow. Yes the town was flooded with a convention of rainbow girls. Google it...
Yakima nightlife
This is our Yakima nightlife for the evening. Hollie is feeling under the weather...traveling caught up with us. We spend a good amount of time in Seattle. We tasted Mt. Rainier beer which is brewed with Yakima hops. We found out that Yakima produces 77% of the US hops....stay tuned we are on the hunt for hops plants.
The moon?
Wow, it seems like we could be on the moon right now. The landscape looks like craters from the moon or rolling hills.
DUI sign
they just legalized it.....coincidence as to the travel time we have planned? Alright it sounds better than reality. We didn't know until we drove in, saw this sign, and investigated why is was posted, that they had legally began to sell it. The sign is fun, but the effects are not up either of us's alley.
West to East mountains.
This is the before and after of the Cascade Mountain Range that separates Seattle and Yakima. We saw the Rattlesnake, Adam, and _ ranges.
Another deja vu!
What is that we see?...... more windmills! We had a deja vu moment as we traveled through Washington. We saw a familiar sight from the midwest. Yeah! Washington is being smart about their energy use and energy production.
Tacoma or Yakima
We have a decision to make should we change the plan and head to Tacoma or stay the course and head to Yakima, only time will tell.....
A mini NYC
This reminders me of a mini New York City. They had all the shops, the hustle and bustle, and the crowd that NYC has... there was just something just a little different.

Downtown Seattle
While searching for a dive bar in Seattle...we stumbled upon Ozzies. We must not have lost our youth as we were carded again. Great service, great beer, great location, and great time!
Charlotte take note
This could have saved Hollie and I a couple hundred bucks many years ago.....but still Charlotte this is a fabulous idea!
You pre pay for parking at a meter and then stick the receipt on the window to be seen by the meter person when they come by with the provided sticker.

Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives-
We stopped for lunch in Seattle, what a good choice! We checked out Guy Fieri's show Triple D on the Food Network, and tried Georgia's Greek Deli/Restaurant for lunch. The service and food was great! We even saw a picture of the owner hanging on the wall.
more hood...
These are closer pictures of Mt. Hood after we entered Washington. If we only had some more time Hollie and I would be hiking the mountain. We know that Mt. Hood is only two hours from Portland, we had a tough decision to make as we planned this trip.
Got gas?
We found out in Oregon that you are not allowed to pump gas, but in Washington we are back to normal- self serve gas.
Two different looks
Washington has atleast two different looks, city and country. Wonder what the rest of the state has to show?
Washington
If you look closely at the green grass Welcome to Washington picture you will see the outline of the state. It is my first time to Washington and it was basically minutes from Portland. Hollie is on bear watch, hopefully she will see one. It will be our first time to Yakima and to see the eastern side of the state.
Good Morning Portland!
We stayed so close to the interstate/highway it was extremely
easy to get out of town. This was the
best shot as we pulled out of town.
Virginia's Cafe
We are dressed and ready for Portland, question is...is Portland ready for us? We stopped at Virginia's Cafe for some tasty treats for our bellies. Virginia's Cafe is 100 years old and had a Rockabilly feel.
Sunset in Portland
We arrived in Portland during the evening. We were able to
see the sunset from the hotel while we relaxed for a bit before getting ready
to venture into the city.
Mt. Hood
Look at Mt. Hood in the distance, yes that is snow on the
top and it’s July! What a pretty sight and the first of a couple mountains we
are going to see on this trip.
Working the land-
As were driving down the highway we noticed plumes of smoke
in the fields. Farmers were still
working the fields into the evening hours. Thanks for all the good healthy food
you produce for us.
Live animal
Hollie really wants to see live animals- like elk or maybe a
bear. All she has seen is a deer, cows, horses,
and sheep.
